Going Around Cheyenne

DF'82 heads back over to Disney's Hotel Cheyenne, in Disneyland Paris, to take some time to have a look around. Again. But this time, we have a map to guide us through the different buildings!

This map, of course, is given to any guest checking into the Hotel Cheyenne. It gives us some information about the hotel itself, as well as directions to our stables!

Keeping in the Kingdom

Situated in Fantasyland, behind le Chateau, is la Menagerie du Royaume, briefly translated as the Kingdom's Mengarie.

But you won't find a selection of exotic birds in here - rather, a large selection of Disneyland Paris related goods. Not the same, but still exotic to many!

The Domino Effect

In addition to the K-Nex and Tinker Toys the Imaingeers used to build Toy Story Playland in Walt Disney Studios, they also used another popular toy from our childhood.

The domino! Thus, creating a kind of domino effect throughout the Playland.

Slinking Off

After our look at Slinky Dog ZigZag spin last week, we thought that perhaps Slinky Dog was searching for a bone or two.

However, don't forget that Slinky is a dog, so perhaps he is just chasing his tail?
Some fun, Disney Detailing!

Enjoying a Moment...Blasting Off!

It's time to visit Space Mountain: Mission 2. Hold on tight, because I think this thing is about to blast off!

Have a lovely Sunday, everyone.

Bounce Off!

After yesterday's Race Off with RC, we take a step back to have a look at the RC Racer in its full glory.

But wait a minute, what's that?

Of course, its the Pixar ball! Made famous in the Short 'Luxo Jr', the Pixar ball can be seen in many Pixar animations. And now, it's appearing in Walt Disney Studios!

Friday 24 June 2011

Race Off!

Phew, it's been a busy few days over at Toy Story Playland. And today we head over to RC Racer, where the infamous car from Toy Story allows us to experience some driving fun!

Using left overs from a Scalextric set, or maybe from some Hot Wheels, RC makes our stomach flip as we go up and down, back and forth!

Parachuting Off

The excellent Toy Soldier Parachute Drop is a great attraction for (almost!) all the family in the Walt Disney Studios.

As you can see, its possibly not the best attraction for those with a fear of heights or a sensitive stomach. The Toy Soldiers take us high in the air, and then allow us to drop! Don't worry - it's not the Tower of Terror!

But how do the Imagineers welcome us to this attraction? Well, they had some left over Toy Soldier Planes, so why not use that?

Give A Dog A Bone

Heading over to Slinky Dog ZigZag Spin, we can see this popular Toy Story character brought to life!

With enough room to fit two adults per section, hold on tight for this spin-tastic ride! But don't forget, Zigzag is a dog after all, and will probably be looking for a bone or two.
Where did we see one? Oh yes, just at the entrance to the attraction! Allowing us to check on our waiting time, and the main instructions to the ride.

Welcome to the Playland

Walt Disney Studios' Toy Story Playland opened late summer last year (2010) and has been a welcome addition to the Studios park.

Buzz Lightyear welcomes us to the new Land, and allows us to enter a world entirely constructed and based around toys!
Considering how exciting this is to us adults, can you imagine what it's like to enter this world as a child?

Taking a look at the construction of the Playland, we can see the Imagineers used Tinker Toys and K-Nex to  help build the land. They also used some fairy lights to help us see our way around!

The Way to the Studios

In a nod to the original Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California, the Walt Disney Studios in Paris has a lovely little tribute in the form of their attraction direction signs.

As you can see, Mickey and the camera are helping to point us in the direction of Crush's Coaster, Animagique, Toy Story Playland and the Studio Tram Tour.
And here at DF'82 we are going to follow that sign right the way to Toy Story Playland. Join us tomorrow when we begin a mini-tour of Paris's newest Land!

Enjoying A Moment...Having Fun!

Fun for everyone at Paradise Pier! Or should I say, Fun in the Sun for Everyone?

Let's Enjoy a Moment in the old Paradise Pier, circa 2009.

Little Bit Of Fun

Part of the reason I started DF'82 was to introduce to Disney Geeks/Fans/Efficianados all around the world the wonders of Disneyland Paris. And sometimes, there is a post that just sums up this blog in its entirity.

This is it:
For your future enjoyment!

Enjoy :).

A Quick Bite...At Cafe Mickey

It's time to have a bite to eat in Disneyland Paris, but we are actually going to leave the parks to visit a restaurant in the Disney Village.

Cafe Mickey is one of the most popular restaurants in the Disney resort area, catering to a mix of tastes and desires. And possibly the main reason it is so popular is because it is character dining! It can mean that it is difficult to get in to, or there is a wait, so reservations are strongly recommended! However, lunch can be a good chance to get in without much of a wait.

There are some great views of the lake, and out towards Sequoia Lodge, from the first floor of the restaurant.

The Cafe is open for a breakfast buffet (usually 7.30am to 9.30am), lunch (midday to 5pm) and dinner (5pm until close). The menu is pretty varied, with some European and American influences. There is a great cocktail selection, and wine selection, and plenty of options for the younger members of your party!

Sign Me Up

Passing through the queue for Cars Quatre Roues Rallye, the Imagineers have found a plentitude of ways for us guests to pass our time and truly experience visiting Radiator Springs.

For example, look at the signs that surround us when we enter.

Even one for Dinoco!

Cooking a Storm

When you are looking for fun experiences in Main Street U.S.A., you might decide to take some cooking classes. And if you do want to go ahead with these classes, then where better than the Creme de la Creme Cooking College:
We can have French Cuisine lessons there - c'est fantastique!

Thundering Goods

Heading over to Frontierland in Disneyland Paris,it's time for us to purchase some goods. But where should we go just to get some general items?

We should visit the Thunder Mesa Mercantile Building, where the Bonanza Outfitters are situated.

Perhaps the Bonanza in the stores' name relates to the long-running American Western TV series of the same name. Anyhow, as you can see, we can obtain some general and dry goods from the Outfitters.
Yeehaw!

Tokyo's Hub

Although Tokyo Disneyland's Castle is almost a replica of Cinderella's Castle in Walt Disney World, there is one major difference in the area surrounding the Castle, also known as the hub.

In Tokyo, the hub is a much larger area. Their parades tend to loop around the hub, which gives many more vantage points for the parades and also makes general guest traffic flow much easier at their very busy times. There are also two towers placed in the hub, usually used as storage places for Cinderella...or sound-booths for the parades.

At the far end of the hub is the beautiful Cinderella Castle.

And if we turn around, we are faced with the entrance to the hub from World Bazaar (conveniently undercover to deal with Japan's abusive winters and rainy-seasons).

Enjoying A Moment...With The Monorail

One of my favourite attractions to shoot when I visit Walt Disney World is the monorail. In a way, it is so unique to the Disney Parks, that once I've shot a picture of it, I know I am really in the parks!

Today, let's sit back, relax and enjoy a moment with the monorail, in Epcot, during the Flower and Garden Festival.

Doctors of All Kinds

Last month DF'82 looked at getting some gardening supplies from Conrads. Today, we pop back to that window, and attempt to get a doctor.

Not your usual doctor, of course. But maybe one that could help us with our horticultural needs...

Daniel Branchoff
Tree Surgeon

Excellent! Just what we were looking for. And with a name like 'Branch-off', is it really any wonder he went into that line of work?

Surplus Requirements

Attention, Walt Disney Studios Guests! When you're visiting visiting Cars Quatre Roues Rallye, be sure to stop by Sarge's Surplus.

Perfect for tents, parachutes and 'all your surplus needs'.

Enchanting Details

A visit to Disneyland Paris is not complete without entering La Tanière du Dragon (or, The Dungeon's Dragon) in the basement of le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant. We have looked at this before, and will probably look at the cave area in the future.

An often overlooked detail in the Dungeon is the staircase that leads to the main hall/entry way of the Castle and to the shop Merlin l'Enchanteur (a beautiful shop, with glass and Arribas gifts). Particularly the sign welcoming us to Merlin's gift-shop.

Just another fantastic Disney Detail in the Paris park.

Different Kind Of Windows

Today we head back to Main Street U.S.A in Disneyland Paris, and take a look at a different kind of window. The windows of the Main Street U.S.A. train stations (or the Euro Disneyland Rail depot).

A beautiful form of detailing, which I imagine is often - and wrongly - overlooked by the average guest, is the stained glass windows above the entryway to Parc Disneyland. Each section in the window represents a different weegie (or focus-point) within the various lands of the Parc.

Can you make out what each stained glass represents?

The pirate ship from Adventureland and Skull Rock.

Sleeping Beauty's Castle (le Chateau de la Belle au Bois Dormant) - the gateway to Fantasyland from Main Street U.S.A.

The Riverboat(s) from Thunder Mesa, Frontierland.

The Orbitron, in Discoveryland, and the gateway to other planets.

Each window highlights a different gateway to the lands of the Parc, just like the train station itself is a gateway to Main Street U.S.A.

Read All About Westernland

After spending some time in Westernland, in Tokyo Disneyland, we might be interested to find out some of the goings-on in the area. Or perhaps news from the other lands.

Look no further than the Territorial Chronicle, who seem to have their premises above Pecos Bill Cafe in Westernland itself.

As we can see, they will have:
All the News That's Fit To Print

Published Weekly

Advertisers Welcome

Perhaps DF'82 should place an advert in that paper?

Hairy Times

If you are visiting Frontierland, over in Parc Disneyland, Paris, and are in need of some special, um, hair treatments, look no further than Hall's.

It's Effect Is Miraculous
Hall's
Vegetable Scilian
Hair Renewer

From the before and after shots, we can tell that is a product that can make you younger, more handsome, and hairier! Plus, it is available at the Thunder Mesa Apothecary. Maybe I will pay a visit...father's day is coming up, after all!

Enjoying A Moment...At The Four Corners

It's the first Sunday and June, and for most of us the summer is here! Of course, the Royal Family live in the UK so we can never be too sure...

However, let's put all that aside and enjoy a moment over at Cafe Hyperion in Disneyland Paris, and the Four Corners, as I liked to call it.

Picture Perfect

As previously mentioned in DF'82, Walt's Restaurant in Disneyland Paris is not quite the height of culinary dining, but it is a must-see for Disney Geeks and fans of Walt's life.

Here are just some of the personal photos that are scattered throughout the beautiful restaurant.
